I’ve spent most of my working career in sales – first wholesale jewelry and later business solutions to corporate clients. At age 50, I decided I wanted to take a break from corporate life and so I trained as home inspector and then started my own home inspection business. It’s my background in both sales and home inspections that I believe provides my clients real advantages over many other real estate agents.
I’ve seen for some time now a shift in how people research the products and services they buy and use. The internet is a powerful tool and I believe the real estate industry is just starting to catch on to this. As a father of two “20-something” boys, I know that our new buyers come better informed than any previous generation. Information is readily accessible all the time. As their real estate agent, I have to be able to help them use that information in the real world.
I enjoy running, working out at the gym and cooking great meals on my Big Green Egg BBQ. Having friends and clients over for a great bottle of wine (or two!) and a great meal is my idea of the perfect evening. Helping people find a home where they can do the same is my motivation for being a real estate agent.

What’s your favourite part of being a real estate agent?
I still have the image of the absolute joy on the faces of my first clients when they closed on their first house. Helping people feel happy is my favorite thing about this career.
What’s your favourite hobby?
Cooking – especially on the bbq.
Do you have any nicknames?

What was the most recent compliment you’ve received and savoured?
A client of mine referred one of their friends and we found a house together. There’s no higher compliment than when someone refers you. It really means you’ve done your job well, that you’ve worked hard to earn their trust and that you’ve succeeded. That and “Tom, that was one great steak!”
Where’s your favourite place to take an out-of-town client?
I like to take out-of town clients on a short tour around the city they’re looking to buy in. It gives them a sense of the community and helps them see themselves there.

Austin Martin DB9 of course.
What was the last thing you ate today?
Chicken I brined overnight and then smoked on the Green Egg after slathering it in an applesauce based mix – delicious!
Where were you born?
A small town called Pembroke.
